Duhaney Park and Maritime favourites for JRLA/RLATG Semi-finals.

The semi-finals of the (RLATG) sponsored National Division 2 Championship will take place on Saturday December 15th at the Cedar Grove Academy.

Defending Champions Duhaney Park Redsharks A are firm favourites after a perfect 3-0 record in the group stages. They had a walk through the quarter-finals after St. Bess Sledgehammers developed transportation issues on match day last week and failed to show. They will face the surprise team of the semis, Cedar Grove Cyclones who upset Liguanea Dragons 44-4 in their quarterfinal clash. Both teams meet at 4:00pm.

Cyclones player/coach Antonio Baker is looking for another giant killing act;
“With the U19 high school season over, our players are a bit more rested and we are aiming to upset another veteran team and book ourselves a Grand Finals appearance in our rookie season, it would mean a lot for our team. But even if we fall short, we are super proud of what this squad has achieved in our first year.”

Meanwhile, in the early game at 2:00pm Portmore Eliminators will face off against Caribbean Maritime Spartans. The Andre Weakley coached Eliminators took out Kingston Central Hounds 20-4 in their quarter final game and team manager Kisean Williams believes his team can improve further;
“Our passing has improved over the competition and our forwards have finally began to give us good go forward. We are hoping to once more raise the bar when we face the Spartans because they are a quality team.”

Maritime, like Duhaney Park have been unbeaten all season and are blessed with a range of offensive firepower. They have been expertly led by scrum-half Adrian Brown all season and national player Reinhardo Ricahards
